Javier has spent the majority of his life participating in outdoor activities. He has been mountain biking for 18 years, and was on the Mexican National Team for 3 years in a row. After racing mountain bikes professionally, he left racing to study and earn a Degree in Environmental Engineering . During his time in University he got involved in rock climbing and surfing, which at the same time, fed his love for the outdoors. Sooner than later, surfing became a huge part of his life
Dividing his time and energy between Wildmex, outdoor activities and travelling around the globe, Javier considers himself fortunate to live the life he lives, be able to share with so many different people and see and experience the world.

Starting out by planting over 2.5 million trees all over Canada and Australia, his travels led him to surf in such countries as Australia, Indonesia, Fiji, Tahiti, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico and Canada. While living in Australia for 5 years, Michael became a surf instructor and sea kayaking guide and taught lessons in Byron Bay Australia for three years.
Following this Mike came to Sayulita and has been instructing and guiding surf trips for WildMex for the past 3 years. La pura Vida. He is also heavily into skateboarding, snowboarding, tennis, and music, and has plans to take over the world...

Made in Mexico, born in New York, Risa Mara Machuca has always had a connection with the ocean. Daughter of a fisherman and a waitress, the ocean waves have always been her playground. Risa joined the Wildmex family this past season after many years working in film/music video production via Los Angeles/NY. She hopes to continue instructing while making independent film projects. Ms. Machuca is an award winning filmmaker. Her current project is a surf documentary...'ORALE ~ Surf a la Mexicana'.
